Double, double toil and trouble. Fire burn and Caldron bubble. These hat makers are no beginners. Let's announce our contest winners!

Congratulations to our top 3  winners from 2024. This year our top three winners were all hats that were made from scratch! Thank you to all who participated, the judges loved reading and seeing your beautiful entries. We hope you enjoy checking out these amazing entries as much as we did.

1st place – August Y. - "Why settle for spooky when you can be sweet? This year, for Witches Night Out, I’m serving up a delicious surprise that will leave everyone wondering, 'Is it cake?' Inspired by a birthday cake, my hat is all treat and no trick, frosted in pinks and whites and topped with strawberries. The base of the hat is made of cardboard, and I used lightweight spackling and acrylic paint to achieve the frosting look. After all, who says witches can’t have their cake and eat it too? Black may be traditional, but I’m adding a sprinkle of sweetness to this spooky season!"

2nd Place –Carol W. -  “Cat Hat 2024, This year I wanted to needle felt a cat into my hat design.  Originally I was thinking black cat-pointiy classic witch hat. However, my own cat Moo, who happens to be a Livermore rescue, became my model. The hat is made out of wool roving, shaping the cat's features into the wool. We had fun creating a friend for her. I realized I accomplished this when I told the hat to get off the counter.”

3rd Place –Danielle E. - “I am a basic witch at heart, and love all things fall. So I loved this plaid on the underside and wanted a luxurious velvet on the outside. Added a brooch from an old Celtic festival, some lace, and some pearls for finishing touches.”
